THE PREDICTION

World number 33 Lin Zhu is coming up to the anniversary of finding the form of her career, enjoying a huge run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open before winning her maiden WTA title a the Hua Hin Championships in Thailand. The 29-year-old beat Lucia Bronzetti in straight sets for a strong start to her Hobart campaign and she impressed in Brisbane last week, coming back from a set down to upset Danielle Collins before an expected hammering by world number two Aryna Sabalenka. 25-year-old Caroline Dolehide changed the course of her career late last season with an incredible run to the Guadalajara Masters final, finishing runner-up to Maria Sakkari in a competitive clash. The American’s 2024 could go one of two ways with a heap of extra pressure on her shoulders but she claimed her first tour-level win since with a straight-sets result over Mayar Sherif on Tuesday to start afresh.

Lin Zhu levelled their tour-level head-to-head at 1-1 last season at the Monterrey Open and she earned at least a set in both of those results, so back the Chinese to do so here to leave the victor up to chance.
