20-year-old Katie Volynets qualified for her Australian Open debut without dropping a set last week and she will be aiming for a first win after three previous first round appearances at other majors. The world number 176 enjoyed some success on the ITF circuit last season but this is a significant step-up in competition against world number 83 Beatriz Haddad-Maia who found some strong form late last season.
