THE PREDICTION

World number 10 Elena Rybakina continues to ghost through the rounds at Indian Wells with her usual blistering efficiency. The 23-year-old conceded just three games to in-form Varvara Gracheva on Tuesday to back-up strong performances against former champion Paula Badosa and Sofia Kenin, technically making it five wins on the spin now after she had to withdraw from the Dubai Masters at this stage late last month. Former world number 19 Karolina Muchova is enjoying her best run by far since returning to tour from a long injury lay-off but she took to court on Tuesday with a concerning amount of strapping on before an excellent three-set match with Marketa Vondrousova edged her way. Muchova has thoroughly impressed so far in the desert but it is hard to see anyone but Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka stopping Rybakina’s deceptively brutal game. The Czech won their only previous meeting at the US Open back in 2019 but four years on Rybakina is at her very peak, so far, and she can be backed to win outright. Leaving this match out of an accumulator would be wise given how much strapping Muchova was wearing on Tuesday.
