Salhahuddin Everett: Can Dana White's runner put the capstone on a fairytale journey?

Formerly a runner to Dana White, Salhahuddin "Sal" Everett (4-0) makes his transition from the UFC mailroom to Contender Series hopeful come Tuesday night. Looking to become the first UFC employee to pull on the Venum shorts and UFC gloves in the promotion's history, "Bundy" has looked pretty unstoppable throughout his professional career to date, scoring first round finishes in every single one of his four wins, a run that includes a KO victory in the space of four seconds. He drops down to welterweight for this matchup, having fought the majority of his career up a weight class at 185 pounds.

Ozzy Martin: "Toro" looks to spoil Everett's big moment

Undefeated across four fights as a pro, Ozzy Martin (4-0) arrives on the Contender Series with a reputation as a dangerous finisher. A powerful striker who starts at a ferocious pace, the aptly nicknamed "Toro" has finished all four of his wins by KO, with two of those victories coming in the space of 30 seconds or less. The 24 year old has also fought professionally in boxing and kickboxing, underlining his pedigree as a striker. Martin throws solid boxing combinations and has excellent kicks, while he's also demonstrated some sneaky trips and savage GNP throughout his young career to date.

Salhahuddin Everett vs Ozzy Martin prediction

While both fighters possess identical records, this looks like a case of the UFC handing Everett what they think is a favorable matchup in the hopes of propelling his mailroom to Octagon story into the limelight.

However, while Everett looks solid on paper, but I don't think that he's necessarily a UFC caliber fighter. "Bundy" may be undefeated with four first round finishes, but it's important to note that he has yet to post a single win over a fighter with a winning record.

With that being said, it's not like Martin is much better. While he does have one win over a fighter with a winning record, his other victories have come over fighters who were 2-5, 0-2, and 5-8. While he's the natural welterweight in this matchup, he's going to be facing a former middleweight who is likely to have a physicality advantage in addition to the edge in height and reach.

This could conceivably go either way; I don't think that either of these men are particularly good. If it gets past the first three minutes, I wouldn't be surprised to see Martin take this, but I'll tentatively pick Everett to find the early finish.

Prediction: Salhahuddin Everett to win by first round stoppage
