THE PREDICTION
World number three Stefanos Tsitsipas received a bye to the second round as the second seed here in Miami and then a walkover to the third after Richard Gasquet withdrew late from their match. That made a third round clash with a resurgent Cristian Garin difficult but a three-set result is encouraging for the Greek, who has recently been struggling with a shoulder issue. Tsitsipas beat Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals of the Australian Open back in January to extend a very convincing head-to-head record to 6-0 over the Russian, but Khachanov will arguably never have a better chance at getting a point on the board. The 26-year-old has also recently struggled with fitness issues since a remarkable run in Melbourne but a straight-sets victory over Jiri Lehecka on Sunday was an encouraging result. Three of their six encounters have seen sets go both ways, including each of their last two since the start of last season, and so backing Tsitsipas top win outright looks the reasonable call. However, three sets could end up the shrewd way to avoid picking a winner here.
