KAMILLA RAKHIMOVA VS MAYAR SHERIF PREDICTION
World number 66 Mayar Sherif is yet to drop a set this week and she passed a significant test on Thursday with victory over third seed Sara Sorribes Tormo. 28-year-old Sherif has burst back into life on her favoured clay in recent months, reaching the third rounds of both Masters events in Madrid and Rome as well as coming second at two Challenger events, including last week’s Parma Challenger in which she beat Kamilla Rakhimova to make the semi-finals.
World number 105 Rakhimova finally completed a match on Thursday, beating Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets after seeing her previous two opponents retire early in their respective first sets.
This should be a tighter clash than their match off-tour last week but Sherif looks finely tuned and ready to be a factor at Roland-Garros, let alone the favourite for the title here with home-from-home support in Morocco. Back the Egyptian to win.
