THE PREDICTION
World number 91 John Millman is far better than his current ranking and he proved that with a superb straight-sets victory over third seed Grigor Dimitrov on Friday. The 32-year-old has also taken out in-form Americans Marcos Giron and Maxime Cressy this week, with Dimitrov coming in a little rusty this week in Florida. World number 20 Reilly Opelka is the second seed at the Delray Beach Open, where he won the second of his three ATP titles back in 2020, after coming in from his third title won at last week’s Dallas Open. The 24-year-old was forced to win a deciding set against in-form Adrian Mannarino on Friday and with his two matches seeing three sets this week so far taking this semi-final to do the same could be a suitable alternative to picking a winner here – especially as Millman has won all three of their previous meetings.
There has been at least one tiebreak in each of their three matches, including two last season at Queen’s Club and the Washington Open, so taking at least one tiebreak here and for Opelka on a six-match winning streak to take at least a set seems a reasonable pick here.
