World number 53 Dusan Lajovic came back from a set to oust home favourite, and former champion, Thanasi Kokkinakis on Monday. The 33-year-old enjoyed something of a resurgent season last year, stunning Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev to win his second title at the Banja Luka Open in April, and despite enjoying his best level on clay he is always a sleeper threat elsewhere. World number 29 Jiri Lehecka beat lucky loser Adam Walton on Tuesday to build on an impressive three-set defeat to Djokovic at the United Cup last week, although an opening defeat to Zhizhen Zhang was avoidable. The 22-year-old is coming up to the anniversary of his career-best run to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open but he is currently far from the form that saw him achieve that.
Lehecka remains the favourite in these conditions but consider taking Lajovic to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance in this first meeting between the two.
