THE PREDICTION

World number 18 Roberto Bautista Agut is riding a five-match winning streak after claiming his 11th career ATP title, and second this season, at the Kitzbuhel Open two weeks ago. The 34-year-old beat Marcos Giron in straight sets on Tuesday to get a promising Canada Masters campaign underway but this is a tough draw with Jenson Brooksby in what is proving to be quite the rivalry in 2022. The pair have met twice already this season with a win apiece, with Bautista Agut taking their most recent in comprehensive fashion on clay but Brooksby winning their opener in three tight sets at the Miami Open back in March. World number 46 Brooksby beat Alexander Bublik comfortably on Monday to shake off a poor showing in Washington last week, where he lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round after finishing runner-up to Alex de Minaur at the Atlanta Open the previous weekend. A hardcourt levels the playing field between RBA and Brooksby here but with a result hard to call back the Spaniard to win at least a set, considering he has done so in both of their matches this year.
