IGA SWIATEK VS NAOMI OSAKA PREDICTION
World number one Iga Swiatek made predictably short work of her first round opponent Leolia Jeanjean on Monday, conceding just three games to the Frenchwoman to claim her 15th win on the spin here at Roland-Garros.
The 22-year-old is a four-time Grand Slam champion, winning three of her four trophies here in 2020 and each of the last two seasons alongside the US Open title in 2022 and, like her next opponent, she has never lost a major final.
Former world number one Naomi Osaka overcame Lucia Bronzetti in three sets on Sunday but it should have cone easier for the Japanese, who let the match get away from her in the second set before recovering in the third.
The 26-year-old endured a tough time at Roland-Garros two years ago, where media scrutiny affected her mental health so much that she took some time away from the sport and, barring a brief return later that year, she is back after missing the 2023 season to become a mother for the first time; seemingly thriving under the new lease of life, or relieved pressure, that followed.
This could be a thrilling clash of titans, from either side of the turn of the decade, but clay is certainly Swiatek’s domain, with Osaka winning each of her four Grand Slam titles on hardcourts – two apiece at the US Open (2018, 2020) and the Australian Open (2019, 2021). Back Swiatek to win in straight sets.
IGA SWIATEK VS NAOMI OSAKA TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN 2-0
