THE PREDICTION
World number one Iga Swiatek passed a significant test on Sunday by coming back from a set down to beat Linda Noskova, backing-up a blistering opener over Camila Giorgi. The 22-year-old was stunned by Noskova, from a set up, at the Australian Open back in January but she avenged that loss with a consummate win en-route to the Indian Wells title last time out – with Sunday’s third entry further suggesting a bright future for the Czech teenager. Poland’s Swiatek will take heart from the result too, as well as an eight-match winning streak into the round of 16, but she has not always had an easy time of it against Ekaterina Alexandrova either.
29-year-old Alexandrova brought a career-high WTA world ranking of 16th into Miami and she has put some recent poor form behind her with two impressive wins over Donna Vekic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The Russian won her first encounter with Swiatek at the Australian Open back in 2021 but she trails 1-3 in their head-to-head since, albeit featuring two very tight three-set defeats. The sensible concession is taking Swiatek to win outright.
TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
