THE PREDICTION
World number 11 Hubert Hurkacz can guarantee himself a place at the ATP Finals if he reaches the final of the Paris Masters after Alexander Zverev crashed out of the tournament on Thursday. 26-year-old Hurkacz brought some of the best form on tour into Paris-Bercy after reaching the finals of each of his last two tournaments, winning a second Masters title in Shanghai and finishing runner-up to Felix Auger-Aliassime last week in Basel, and he has looked in strong shape so far this week. World number 17 Grigor Dimitrov looks a serious threat, though, after the Bulgarian avenged a three-set defeat to Daniil Medvedev in Vienna last week with a three-set victory of his own on Wednesday and he backed that up with a consummate result over Alexander Bublik yesterday. The 32-year-old has been steadily improving since the summer but he is fast-becoming a dark horse for the title here in Paris if he can just avoid Novak Djokovic.
Dimitrov leads Hurkacz 3-0 in their head-to-head but each of their three tight encounters have seen a tiebreak. Consider taking at least a tiebreak here to avoid a result altogether but otherwise back Dimitrov to earn at least a set in his current ascendancy.
BETTING TIP: Over 0.5 tiebreaks.
