THE PREDICTION
World number 11 Alex de Minaur overcame second seed Andrey Rublev in three tight sets on Friday, avenging his five-set exit to the Russian at the Australian Open last month, to suddenly look a serious threat here in Rotterdam. The 24-year-old won his most prestigious title this time last year at the Mexican Open, also an ATP 500 event, and he briefly moved inside the top 10 at the start of the year after taking Australia to the United Cup semi-finals with a shock victory over Novak Djokovic.
World number 13 Grigor Dimitrov beat De Minaur in three sets in the quarter-finals here last season to level their head-to-head at 2-2 but both players have improved considerably since. The 32-year-old won his first title since 2017 with an excellent campaign at the Brisbane 500 last month but a three-set victory over Alexander Shevchenko on Friday suggested there is a spot of fragility in his game that De Minaur is well capable of exposing. De Minaur has earned at least a set in each of their last three matches and there has been at least a tiebreak in each of those too to offer a suitable combination in lieu of a result from this likely thriller.
TIP: ALEX DE MINAUR TO WIN A SET (AND OVER 0.5 TIEBREAKS)
