32-year-old Grigor Dimitrov moved back up to world number 12 after a solid run to the round of 16 at Indian Wells last week, although a straight-sets defeat to eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev was below his recent resurgent standards. The Bulgarian finally won his eighth ATP title at the Brisbane 500 in January, ending a six-year drought stretching back to his most prestigious claimed at the ATP Finals in 2017, and he finished runner-up to Ugo Humbert at the Marseille Open in February before missing a few weeks through injury.
World number 44 Alejandro Tabilo overcame Brandon Nakashima in three sets on Thursday to maintain his excellent start to 2024. The 26-year-old stunned the field at the Auckland Classic in January to claim his maiden ATP title and he finished runner-up to Sebastian Baez at the Chile Open earlier this month to suggest the coming months on clay could be fruitful.
