22-year-old Flavio Cobolli will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 53rd after beating Alexander Shevchenko in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the Geneva Open. The Italian has thoroughly impressed since looking something of a deer in the headlights against Rafael Nadal at the Barcelona Open last month, with upsets over Nicolas Jarry and Ben Shelton since suggesting he stands a decent chance at a first tour final here.
World number seven Casper Ruud has dropped sets in each of his matches so far in Geneva, where he is a two-time former champion from 2021 and 2022, but a three-set victory over fifth seed Sebastian Baez is a strong result on clay for anyone. The 25-year-old won his most prestigious title yet in Barcelona but he has struggled to find that intensity since.
