EMMA NAVARRO VS BEATRIZ HADDAD-MAIA PREDICTION
World number 14 Beatriz Haddad-Maia beat Emma Navarro in straight sets at the Madrid Open late last month to look the reasonable favourite in this rematch but Navarro claimed their first encounter in Charleston back in 2021, also on clay. 27-year-old Haddad-Maia later upset in-form Maria Sakkari in straight sets in Madrid, before a hugely impressive three-set exit to eventual champion Iga Swiatek, but a three-set exit to Madison Keys at this stage of Rome last time out could have been avoided.
23-year-old Navarro’s excellent rise up the rankings has slowed up a little since the start of the clay swing but the American finished runner-up to fellow up-and-comer Diana Shnaider at a Challenger in Paris last week to bring some strong form on French clay into Strasbourg. Navarro made short work of Alize Cornet on Monday but this will be a significantly tougher challenger against Haddad-Maia, who reached the semi-finals at Roland-Garros last summer to prove her credentials on her favoured surface. Back the Brazilian to edge this rematch but three sets seem likelier than two this time.
