THE PREDICTION

World number 43 Mirra Andreeva first burst onto the scene at the Madrid Masters almost a year ago, reaching the round of 16 as a teenage wildcard to foreshadow a remarkable debut season. The Russian also reached the third round at Roland-Garros and the last 16 at Wimbledon last summer but a first title would be an excellent box to tick before returning to Madrid next week and she kicked off her Rouen campaign well with a comfortable opener over Nadia Podoroska.

World number 67 Elina Avanesyan enjoyed her own career-best run to the third round of a Grand Slam via a huge upset over Maria Sakkari at the Australian Open in January and she backed that up with a third round exit in Miami last time out. The 21-year-old is the elder Russian here but in terms of tour-level experience, at least in pressured environments, the junior in some respects. A three-set victory over Fiona Ferro was a solid result here in France but back Andreeva to reach the quarter-finals.

TIP: MIRRA ANDREEVA TO WIN
