26-year-old Tallon Griekspoor set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 35th this week after enjoying an incredible start to 2023. The Dutchman claimed his maiden ATP title at the Pune Open in his first tournament of the season and his five defeats on tour since then have come against current top 10 players to suggest he can break inside the top 30 some time soon. Griekspoor is at his best on a hardcourt but there are certainly factors to his robust game that would make him a solid competitor on this clay swing and this looks a kind opening fixture for the fourth seed against world number 157 Elias Ymer. 26-year-old Ymer came through the qualifiers this weekend before ousting Moroccan wildcard Adam Moundir in tight straight sets to make it 3-3 at tour-level this season. The Swede recently upset Adrian Mannarino at the Mexican Open for an eye-catching result but in-form Griekspoor should be able to come through this first meeting in straight sets.
