The teenager will take to the court on her 19th birthday on Monday alongside Jessica Pegula in the doubles and that could be a blessing in disguise as Tuesday will solely be about the singles. That could be particularly useful against world number 103 Rebecca Peterson, who is a huge anomaly at her current ranking after bursting into form over the last few weeks. The Swede beat came back from a set down to beat Jil Teichmann on Sunday to back-up an excellent opener over Austin Open champion Marta Kostyuk with form that saw her finish runner-up to Camila Giorgi at the Merida Open a fortnight ago. Gauff should be coming through this first tour-level meeting in straight sets but Peterson’s momentum is a serious challenge. Back the American to win outright inside an accumulator or in two on its own.
