World number 147 Joao Sousa was handed a wildcard on home soil in Estoril and the 34-year-old made the most of it in a three-set victory over Giulio Zeppieri. Sousa fares the slightest chance of a big upset here against world number five Casper Ruud given the top seed’s woeful recent form but it would be a stretch as Ruud returns to his favoured surface.
