THE PREDICTION

World number 28 Cam Norrie won his most prestigious of five career ATP titles here at Indian Wells in 2021 but he is currently far from that ruthless best level after failing to defend his most recent title in Rio last month. The 28-year-old impressed in a five-set defeat to Alexander Zverev in the round of 16 of the Australian Open in January, having stunned Casper Ruud in four the previous round, but his current hardcourt ability is questionable after withdrawing from Acapulco last week. World number 55 Lorenzo Sonego upset Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets on Thursday to look up to the challenge in this second meeting with the Brit but it should come closer than their first encounter in 2019, where the Italian won in straight sets at the peak of his powers on clay. This looks like one of the tougher calls of the round but beating Kecmanovic here is an impressive result that makes backing Sonego to earn at least a set the sensible way to lean.

TIP: LORENZO SONEGO TO WIN A SET
