ARTHUR RINDERKNECH VS FRANCES TIAFOE PREDICTION

World number 26 Frances Tiafoe beat Jaume Munar in straight sets on Monday for a strong result on clay, bringing his poor 2024 record up to 11-10. The 26-year-old is clearly enduring his toughest period on tour, with a severe depreciation in form since his quarter-final defeat to Ben Shelton at the US Open last summer, but he did well to reach the final of the Houston Open (as defending champion) in April before another defeat to Shelton in three sets.

World number 73 Arthur Rinderknech has suffered a similarly poor stretch of form this season, and indeed over the past two or so years, but it was at this stage three years ago that he stunned Jannik Sinner in three sets in Lyon before a tight exit to eventual champion Cam Norrie. The 28-year-old overcame an out-of-sorts Dan Evans in three sets on Monday to snap a four-match losing streak and he may never have a better chance of beating Tiafoe than in this first encounter between the two, particularly with a partisan crowd behind him.

The sensible call is taking Tiafoe to earn at least a set but consider the same option in favour of the Frenchman in conditions he has enjoyed before.
