ANNA BLINKOVA VS SORANA CIRSTEA PREDICTION
World number 55 Anna Blinkova has endured a really odd season so far. The 25-year-old stunned 2023 Australian Open runner-up Elena Rybakina in Melbourne back in January, via the longest tiebreak in history there, and she also upset Jessica Pegula at Indian Wells to prove that a big game simmers behind some of her inexplicably poor results.
World number 30 Sorana Cirstea’s first love was clay but the Romanian has found most of her best runs on hardcourts in recent seasons, reaching the semi-finals of the Dubai Masters in February before an exit to eventual champion Jasmine Paolini. The 34-year-old reached the quarter-finals here back in 2019 but she has largely struggled in Paris since, although she matched that run at the US Open last summer to prove her staying power at major tournaments.
The suitably cautious call is backing Cirstea to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
