ANHELINA KALININA VS DANIELLE COLLINS PREDICTION
World number 12 Danialle Collins conceded just four games to Clara Burel on Thursday, one more than her blistering opener over Katerina Siniakova. The 30-year-old will retire at the end of the season and she has played lights-out tennis ever since making that decision known, with a career-best Masters title claimed on home soil in Miami and a second clay trophy won at Charleston early last month.
Collins reached the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros in 2020 and she should be considered a serious contender for more given her recent form, with Aryna Sabalenka required to oust her from both Masters events in Madrid and Rome.
World number 56 Anhelina Kalinina finished runner-up to Elena Rybakina in Rome last season but her deflated ranking is a result of an early exit there last time out. The 27-year-old is far better on her favoured clay than that rank suggests and she proved it on Friday in coming back from a set down to beat Strasbourg top seed Marketa Vondrousova.
Rain delays see the Ukrainian at a huge disadvantage in this match, if she decides to play at all given Roland-Garros starts on Sunday, so back Collins to win in straight sets.
