Australia have not been able to tie down South Africa’s batters all series long and that proved to be their downfall in game two. The Proteas once again batted first and a whopping 365/9 left the tourists with too much to overcome. Temba Bavuma and David Miller both made centuries, the latter scoring 142 from 93 balls as Jack Edwards’ five-wicket-haul was in vain. Australia’s chase fell short despite both openers scoring 84 and they lost by 32 runs.
Whilst South Africa have secured the series, they not have the chance to sweep the Aussies and it’s hard to see them not taking that opportunity when considering how well they’ve played so far from a batting perspective in particular. Backing the hosts has to be favoured in Potchefstroom.
