ANDREY RUBLEV VS PEDRO MARTINEZ PREDICTION
World number six Andrey Rublev dropped a set to Taro Daniel on Sunday but otherwise enjoyed a robust, solid opener at Roland-Garros. The 26-year-old upset Carlos Alcaraz en-route to the Madrid Open title earlier this month, his second Masters event on clay after picking up Monte-Carlo last spring, but a three-set exit to Alexandre Muller in Rome should be below his lofty standards.
World number 48 Pedro Martinez is an excellent clay specialist with plenty of wins of his own on the surface this swing. The 27-year-old finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz at the Estoril Open last month, after winning the Girona Challenger, and runner-up to Arthur Fils at the Bordeaux Challenger two weeks ago to look a real threat.
Rublev needed four sets to beat the Spaniard at the US Open three years ago and backing him to win outright looks the suitably cautious call here.
