THE PREDICTION

World number eight Andrey Rublev has struggled for on-court confidence since his controversial but no less humiliating disqualification for aggressive behaviour in the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships in February. The 26-year-old is normally uber-consistent on tour but he brings a rare four-match losing streak into Madrid after failing to defend his Monte-Carlo Masters title earlier this month. World number 136 Facundo Bagnis is no pushover on his favoured clay, proving so against Brandon Nakashima on Wednesday in straight sets, but Rublev should be able to steady the ship in this wholly winnable fixture. Back the Russian to win outright, though, with caution warranted.

TIP: ANDREY RUBLEV TO WIN
