THE PREDICTION

24-year-old Fabian Marozsan will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 51st after a remarkable dismissal of world number seven Holger Rune on Saturday, ousting the out-of-sorts Dane 6-1 6-1. The Hungarian burst onto the scene with a shock upset over then world number one Carlos Alcaraz at the Italian Open last spring and he has since proved himself to be something of a big-game player, enjoying further deep runs at Masters events in Shanghai last October and Indian Wells last week. World number 45 Alexei Popyrin also grabbed an eye-catching result over in-form Jiri Lehecka, once again proving his clear potential in hardcourt conditions. The Aussie, also 24, won his second ATP title at the Umag Open last summer with a herculean effort against Stan Wawrinka but his inconsistency on tour remains a concern. A first meeting between these two unlikely last 16ers will could end up a proper slog but back Marozsan, with the better recent results, to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
