This is an unexpected quarter-final pairing between world number 79 Alexandre Muller and number 74 Taro Daniel, with both players upsetting seeded players in the round of 16. 26-year-old Muller grabbed the most impressive scalp with a consummate victory over third seed Francisco Cerundolo on Wednesday, and he will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 74th for his efforts, but 30-year-old Daniel impressed in a comprehensive result of his own over Max Purcell.
