ALEXANDER ZVEREV VS TALLON GRIEKSPOOR PREDICTION
World number four Alexander Zverev survived an early onslaught by David Goffin before closing out their second round match comfortably, edging the first of straight sets in a tiebreak. The 27-year-old may struggle to stay focused on the task at hand, as the slight title favourite at a Grand Slam for the first time, whilst his trial for domestic abuse allegations takes place in his native Germany but it remains to be seen how and if he is affected on court.
Zverev may have ended Rafael Nadal’s glorious dominance here with a superb performance in the first round, backing up an excellent run to the Italian Open title two weeks ago, and he looks well capable of extending his winning streak to nine here against hard-grafter Tallon Griekspoor.
World number 25 Griekspoor grabbed an eye-catching straight-sets win over Luciano Darderi on Thursday to build on a four-set opener over Mackenzie McDonald but it would take a career-best display to oust this version of Zverev.
The Dutchman beat Zverev in three sets on home soil at the Rotterdam Open last season but he trails the German 3-1 overall, including a straight-sets result at Indian Wells in March. Back Zverev to win outright for caution’s sake, given the increased speculation he will not be able to avoid.
