THE PREDICTION

Former world number one Andy Murray came back from a set down and match points to beat Lorenzo Sonego on Tuesday in a reasonably encouraging start to his Qatar Open campaign. The 35-year-old stole the show in the first week of the Australian Open with a remarkable victory over Matteo Berrettini in the first round and then a thrilling comeback victory over Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second but winning the longest match of his career against the Aussie saw him fatigued in the third. Former world number two Alexander Zverev received a bye to the round of 16 here as the fourth seed in Doha but the German could certainly have done with the extra round’s practice as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious ankle injury suffered last summer. At full strength Zverev would be the clear favourite to serve his way to victory here but the 25-year-old is currently far from par. Back Murray to beat Zverev outright here with a match in his legs.
