THE PREDICTION
World number 12 Cam Norrie has faced some seriously tough opposition this week but he has shown some of his best, dogged tennis in straight-set defeats to Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. Much of this match’s worth to the Group C outcome rests on what happens between Dan Evans and John Isner but he faces his best shot at winning a point for Great Britain in this exciting tussle with in-form Taylor Fritz. 24-year-old Fritz came back from a set down to beat Auger-Aliassime in his first ATP Cup match but world number three Zverev proved to be too strong on Tuesday. Fritz won two of the three meetings with Cam Norrie last season, at the Miami Open and Paris Masters, while Norrie grabbed his en-route to a first ATP title at the Los Cabos Open.
The pair share a tightly-poised head-to-head record at 4-4 with each of their eight previous meetings coming on a hard court. There is probably a set in this for both players with so much on the line and so taking the man in better form, Taylor Fritz, to win at least one seems the reasonable option here.
