THE PREDICTION
World number 99 Rebecca Peterson has been excellent so far this week at the Transylvania Open, conceding just seven games across two comfortable straight-set performances to reach the quarter-finals. She faces Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko next with the 32-year-old also yet to drop a set from the qualifiers through to the last eight. Tsurenko took their first meeting back in 2016 in the first of two matches at Fed Cups, with Peterson returning the favour back in 2019. A second victory at the Eastbourne International later that year sees the Swede with a 2-1 head-to-head record that she should be able to extend here. Tsurenko has not beaten a player inside the top 100 since March and Peterson’s level this week looks to be a way above her opponent.
