THE PREDICTION
The slower courts at Indian Wells are throwing up a few curveballs across the draw with Albert Ramos-Vinolas’ victory over world number 11 Felix Auger-Aliassime a real shock on Sunday. The Spaniard had already impressed with a straightforward win over another future star in Lorenzo Musetti but he now looks able to reach the round of 16 at a hardcourt Masters tournament for the first time since the Shanghai Masters in 2017. 29th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili is another man who favours the clay but he is certainly the more all-court equipped of the two. The Georgian was the winner of their only previous meeting back at the Qatar Open in 2019 over three sets and a decider looks likely again here. Given his win over FAA, take Ramos-Vinolas to win at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance.
