Sydney Thunder put big runs on the board in their first game, but the bowlers underperformed and paid the price, as Hobart Hurricanes completed a large run chase of 182. It was the opposite story last time out, with the Thunders’ score of 148/7 never likely to be enough against Melbourne Renegades, who won by four wickets despite the bowling attack’s best efforts.

Sydney Sixers are strong on the batting front but will need an improved performance from the bowling unit compared to what we saw from them vs Hobart. You would back the experience of the Sixers in this scenario and backing them over the winless Thunder is worth considering, but only if the forecast improves between now and the scheduled start of play.
