South Africa vs Republic of Ireland prediction
After what had been a really promising World Cup campaign, Republic of Ireland showed clear signs of regression across the classification round and come into this placement game on the back of consecutive defeats. They were beaten by both Scotland and USA, meaning they’ve now lost three straight matches in this competition.
South Africa meanwhile, have improved following a nightmare first round, which saw them ship 15 goals and lose all three of their games. However, the classification round led to them picking up a draw against Japan before a 2-3 victory over Chile. Momentum is with them and they seem to have clicked as a team. Whilst it’s too late to advance further in the tournament, it should be enough to get them 13th-place.
