Netherlands vs Argentina prediction

Six wins from six for Netherlands has let them to this stage but they were made to work for it by Belgium, who pushed Raoul Ehren’s side all the way, but ultimately couldn’t find a way to penetrate an outstanding Dutch defence, who have now recorded four shutouts in the tournament. Perhaps most pleasing from the Netherlands’ point of view, is how despite them being neutralised offensively across much of their semi-final, they still found a way to win.

Argentina also came through a grinder of a final four encounter, their defence coming up clutch to register a fourth straight shutout and a 1-0 win over Australia. Whilst the South Americans do not boast the attacking firepower possessed by Netherlands, they are certainly just as strong defensively and their physicality makes this an uncomfortably match-up for the European nation.

However, Netherlands came into this competition as the world’s number one ranked team and for a reason. They tick every box, are as complete a team as you’ll see in women’s hockey and have been utterly dominant throughout the World Cup. With six wins from six, home advantage and quality both from a defensive and offensive perspective, backing them to win a low-scorer is the sensible move.

Netherlands vs Argentina tip: Netherlands to win and under 4.5 total goals
