THE LOWDOWN
ARGENTINA
Argentina were outclassed by New Zealand last week as their Rugby World Cup hopes were dashed. It was not an unexpected defeat for the Pumas and while they would have hoped to have been more competitive, they were just no match for the quality of the All Blacks as the game got away from them. Some poor decision making and errors prevented Argentina from keeping things close as the game progressed and they will be eager to right the wrongs from that effort.
ENGLAND
England produced a superb performance as they pushed South Africa all the way in last week’s semi-final but they fell agonisingly short in their quest to make the RWC final. The English defended stoutly and looked to have earned a spot in the showpiece for the second tournament in succession but a last-gasp penalty saw them fall behind for the first time in the game and they did not have enough time to turn things around.
THE PREDICTION
Argentina and England will go head-to-head in the game that no team wants to compete in as they do battle for third place at the Rugby World Cup. The Pumas were blown away by New Zealand last week while England will need to pick themselves up having come within minutes of beating reigning world champions South Africa. Both teams may look to rotate here to give minutes to the squad members that have featured very little so far but even if that is the case, England should have enough to come out on top.
BETTING TIP: England -7
