THE PREDICTION
This should be the new season’s first serious test for reigning champions Exeter Chiefs as they travel to French giants Toulouse, who are second in the Top 14 behind early pace-setters La Rochelle. The Chiefs totally outclassed their opponents last weekend with a 42-0 whitewash of Glasgow Warriors but Toulouse pulled off an impressive 22-29 win away to then unbeaten Ulster. Both these sides have scored big in recent matches, especially Exeter who have yet to score less than 33 points this season, and so it could be worth picking this match to go over 40 points and leave it at that. However, Exeter are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions since last year’s Premiership play-offs, and even then they had rested key players, so if a result must be called it is the Chiefs that should just edge this exciting clash.
