THE TEAM NEWS

HULL FC

  • Hull FC were well-beaten by St. Helens last week despite being right in the contest at half-time but the Black and Whites failed to live with the champions and know they must improve in several areas if they are to compete at the top of the table.
  • Skipper Luke Gale was left out of the team last week along with winger Adam Swift but that duo will come back into contention here while Cameron Scott could also return from injury, although Brad Fash drops out owing to the concussion protocols.

21-man squad: 1 Jake Connor, 2 Adam Swift, 3 Carlos Tuimavave, 4 Josh Griffin, 5 Darnell McIntosh, 6 Josh Reynolds, 7 Luke Gale, 8 Ligi Sao, 9 Danny Houghton, 10 Chris Satae, 12 Manu Ma’u, 13 Jordan Lane, 14 Joe Lovodua, 16 Kane Evans, 20 Jack Brown, 21 Jordan Johnstone, 22 Josh Bowden, 23 Connor Wynne, 24 Cameron Scott, 29 Jamie Shaul, 30 Scott Taylor

Questionable: Cameron Scott, Kane Evans

WIGAN WARRIORS

  • Wigan Warriors suffered defeat to Huddersfield Giants in a dress rehearsal of next week’s Challenge Cup final but they will not be too concerned by that loss having opted to rest a handful of key players.
  • Head coach Matty Peet has decided to recall those that were rested last week as he aims for his side to put in a much-improved display, although Kaide Ellis has dropped out because of suspension.

21-man squad: 1 Bevan French, 2 Jake Bibby, 4 Iain Thornley, 5 Liam Marshall, 6 Cade Cust, 8 Brad Singleton, 10 Patrick Mago, 11 Willie Isa, 12 Liam Farrell, 13 John Bateman, 14 Morgan Smithies, 16 Harry Smith, 17 Oliver Partington, 19 Ethan Havard, 20 Liam Byrne, 22 Joe Shorrocks, 23 Jai Field

THE PREDICTION

Hull FC have ambitions of breaking into the top two and challenging for the Grand Final this season but they will need to win games like this if they are to realise those. Wigan Warriors occupy second place in the table and may have one eye on next weekend’s Challenge Cup final so the hosts will view this as a great chance to collect the two points. Wigan were poor last week but will name a much stronger team here so a response is expected. However, the Black and Whites have won five-in-a-row at home so they are just given the edge to prevail in this one.
