THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers suffered golden point heartbreak as they were downed by North Queensland Cowboys last week and they may find it tough going to bounce back owing to their team news.
  • Ivan Cleary has opted to rest his Origin contingent, making wholesale changes to the initial team named earlier in the week but Moses Leota is back after missing out on personal grounds last time out.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Tago, Peachey, Jenkins, Salmon, Cogger, Leota, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Sorensen, Hosking, Eisenhuth – Interchanges: Luke, L. Smith, Leniu, Garner – Reserves: Henry, Cole

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured), Nathan Cleary (Injured), Brian To’o (Rested), Isaah Yeo (Rested), Jarome Luai (Rested), Liam Martin (Rested), Stephen Crichton (Rested)

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

  • Newcastle Knights were left frustrated for the second week running as they fell agonisingly short in their encounter with Sydney Roosters.
  • That was a third defeat in four matches for the Knights but their side is bolstered here with the return of Tyson Frizell from his Origin duties while Greg Marzhew is back after he was dropped last week.

Starting 13: Ponga, Young, Gagai, Best, Marzhew, Gamble, Hastings, D. Saifiti, Crossland, Thompson, Frizell, Lucas, Elliott – Interchanges: Mann, J. Saifiti, Hetherington, Croker – Reserves: Johns, Tuala

Unavailable: Jayden Brailey (Injured), Hymel Hunt (Injured), Lachlan Fitzgibbon (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Penrith Panthers saw their five-game winning streak come to an end as they were narrowly beaten by North Queensland Cowboys last week. They will aim to bounce back here as they take on Newcastle Knights, although they are still under-manned with their Origin players being given the weekend off to recover from their efforts during the week. On the other hand, the Knights come into this having lost their last two but have performed solidly in both. They will feel they can catch the premiers off their game here but the Panthers are tough to beat on home soil and should be able to get the job done.
