THE TEAM NEWS

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys were embarrassed by Cronulla Sharks last week as they suffered a second loss in succession as well as a third defeat in their last four outings.
  • Questions have been asked of the Cowboys all week on the back of that performance but despite calls for major changes to the side, head coach Todd Payten has resisted with Jack Gosieswki an enforced casualty with Thomas Mikaele replacing him in the 17.

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers were too good for Wests Tigers last week as they made an immediate return to winning ways to make it four victories from their last five matches.
  • The reigning premiers have suffered just one loss in the absence of key man Nathan Cleary and the halfback returns to the side for the first time in Round 3 after he overcame a hamstring injury.

Starting 13: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Izack Tago 4. Taylan May 5. Brian To'o 6. Jarome Luai 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. James Fisher-Harris 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Liam Martin 13. Isaah Yeo Bench: 14. Daine Laurie 15. Lindsay Smith 16. Liam Henry 17. Luke Garner Reserves: 18. Matt Eisenhuth 19. Paul Alamoti 20. Brad Schneider 21. Mavrik Geyer 22. THE PREDICTION

North Queensland Cowboys come into this clash under some pressure having performed so poorly against Cronulla Sharks last week. There have been accusations levelled at the Cowboys that they don’t want to do the tough stuff in the middle of the pitch and that will become clear against a Penrith Panthers side that will challenge them more than anyone else in the NRL in that department. The Panthers are on a good run of form and with Nathan Cleary back in the side, it is tough to envisage the away side failing to prevail.

TIP: PENRITH PANTHERS -7.5
