- Wests Tigers’ season hit a new low point thanks to an embarrassing effort to begin their clash with Melbourne Storm with the reigning premiers opening up a 36-0 lead before 30 minutes were even on the clock.
- The scoring rate slowed up after that but Wests were still on the end of a hammering as they went down 66-16, meaning they have conceded 106 points in their last two matches which means they start Round 16 four points outside of the top eight and with just two teams below them on the ladder.
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
Starting 13: Mitchell, Johnston, Gagai, Graham, Milne, Walker, Reynolds, Nicholls, Cook, Sele, Koloamatangi, Arrow, Murray – Interchanges: Marshall, Knight, Burgess, Host – Reserves: Burns, Su’A, Taaffe, Mansour, Moga, Mago
Unavailable: Brock Gardner (Injured), Jaxson Paulo (Injured), Tevita Tatola (Injured)
- South Sydney Rabbitohs made it three straight wins with an impressive performance on both sides of the ball ensuring they swept Brisbane Broncos aside last time out in a 0-46 hammering.
- The Rabbits were simply too good for their opponents and never really looked like conceding which will have been arguably more pleasing for head coach Wayne Bennett than the way his side eased their way to eight tries.
THE PREDICTION
Wests Tigers produced one of the worst performances of the season as
they were blown away by Melbourne Storm last time out. Head coach
Michael Maguire was visibly livid with his side’s efforts in that game
with them conceding a point a minute in the first half. He will hope for
a response here but he would have also hoped for an improved display on
that game having conceded 40 in their previous outing. They face
another tough test against a South Sydney Rabbitohs side that looked a
real threat with ball in hand in their comfortable win over Brisbane
Broncos in their most recent clash and they can run out big winners once
again by covering the -19.5 handicap here.
