Nuno Borges made it through to the third-round of Wimbledon after defeating British wildcard Billy Harris in three sets. The Portuguese number one had to save two set points in the third set tiebreak but came through to win 6-3 6-4 7-6. He has now made the third-round or better of all four Grand Slam tournaments.
He will now face Karen Khachanov after he overcame Shintaro Mochizuki in five sets. Mochizuki had made the final of the Nottingham Open on the Challenger Tour, while also getting through qualifying and winning first ever match at a major in the first-round. He threatened to cause an upset as he went two sets to one up, but the Russian dug deep to advance to round three. He won 1-6 7-6 4-6 6-3 6-4.
They have played once before, at the 2022 French Open in the first-round, with Khachanov beating Borges in four sets. The Russian gave up 20 break point opportunities in his last match and will need to put in an improved display this time around if he is to get past Borges.
