MARC DIAKIESE VS KAUE FERNANDES LOWDOWN
Marc Diakiese (16-7) was starting to build some momentum last year after converting from an electrifying striker to a wrestler. He grinded out unanimous decisions over Viacheslav Borschev and Damir Hadzovic. However, he is now coming off two disappointing losses getting outpointed by Michael Johnson (2022) and submitted by Joel Alvarez back in July.
Now, he welcomes Kaue Fernandes (8-1) to the octagon. He is an exciting talent with only one loss to his name. That was on his LFA debut losing a unanimous decision to Luan Andre Souza Sardinha (2021). However, he bounced back in style reeling off two beautiful knockouts over Jose Arly Carvalho (2022) and Felipe Douglas (2023).
MARC DIAKIESE VS KAUE FERNANDES PREDICTION
We expect to see a bit of the old Diakiese here, but from Fernandes. He is also a very confident and dynamic striker with excellent movement. His kicks in particular are lethal and he is also very dangerous on the mat with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Diakiese has not looked very impressive lately, but his experience and caution could pay dividends here. He has the ability to ignite fireworks, but if he falls back on his wrestling, he could wear Fernandes down and blunt his weapons.
That said, the Brazilian will not mind being on his back with the jiu-jitsu advantage. The Brit has the skill on the feet to out strike Fernandes and the wrestling to snatch a couple rounds.
If he can weather the early storm, he can make Fernandes fade as the fight goes on. However, this is a very tough match-up for him and we can see the Brazilian causing the upset in front of his home fans.
