Austin Hubbard (15-7) gets a third opportunity in the big time. He went 3-4 in his first stint between 2019-2021. He went on to pick up a couple insignificant unanimous decisions before finding himself on The Ultimate Fighter 31. He got all the way to the final but fell short in a unanimous decision to Kurt Holobaugh in August last year. Now, he gets another shot which should be his last with a loss.
We have not seen Michal Figlak (8-1) since 2022 when he made his UFC debut. He was making light work of the Cage Warriors roster sitting proudly on an unbeaten record before meeting Fares Ziam at UFC Fight Night 209. The Frenchman inflicted the first loss of his career with a unanimous decision, and we have not seen him since.
AUSTIN HUBBARD VS MICHAL FIGLAK PREDICTION
When Figlak outpointed Agy Sardari in July 2022, it would have been hard to believe that we would be deep into 2024 and he has not won since. There is no disgrace in losing to the formidable Ziam, but the layoff is a worry.
That said, it will be great to see him with a full training camp behind him. Hubbard is well rounded and will keep up a pace for 15 minutes. Figlak is also well-rounded, and he will be preparing to use his wrestling more defensively so he can unleash his striking.
He hits hard, but he will have to be patient as Hubbard is very durable. We expect Figlak to earn a competitive decision as long as there is no ring rust.
