Andre Petroski’s (10-2) UFC record is somewhat deceiving. He was gifted the easiest start a middleweight could ask for swotting away Micheal Gilmore (2021) and Yaozong Hu (2021). He then submitted Nick Maximov (2022) and earnt a unanimous decision over Wellington Turman (2022). He went on to earn a less convincing split decision over Gerald Meerschaert (2023) before getting absolutely humbled and binned by Michel Pereira back in October although the Brazilian has looked unstoppable at 185 lbs.
Jacob Malkoun (7-3) has had a topsy-turvy time in the UFC. After getting assassinated by Phil Hawes (2020) on debut, he picked up a couple solid unanimous decision wins over Abdul Razak Alhassan (2021) and AJ Dobson (2022). He then lost one to Brendan Allen (2022) before earning one back over Maximov (2022). He then met Cody Brundage (2023) at UFC Fight Night 288 but got disqualified after elbowing the back of his head.
ANDRE PETROSKI VS JACOB MALKOUN PREDICTION
This is an interesting match-up between two powerful grapplers. Malkoun is a better technical wrestler with a bigger gas tank whereas Petroski has better jiu-jitsu and slightly better striking,
Petroski has heavy hands, but he has suspect defence and does not move his head. He will come unstuck against anyone with knockout power so will fancy himself against Malkoun.
He will feel that if he can defend the takedown, he can get the better of the Aussie on the feet. However, we feel Malkoun’s cardio will be the difference.
If he can weather the first round, we feel he will be able to overwhelm Petroski with his pressure on the feet and ground sealing the second and third round with a few takedowns.
Prediction: Malkoun via Decision
