Matteo Berrettini vs Kyrian Jacquet prediction

Matteo Berrettini has struggled to make a breakthrough recently, with four second-round losses in a row. The latest was at the Shanghai Masters, as he defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic in three sets before a defeat to Brandon Nakashima. The 2021 Wimbledon finalist’s best result of the season was a run to the quarter-finals of Roland Garros. 

He faces Kyrian Jacquet in the first-round of the Lyon Open. The Frenchman enters the main draw as a qualifier. Jacquet found form during the Asian swing, as he made it through to his first tour-level semi-final at the Hangzhou Open. That contributed to his ranking rising to a career high of 76 in the world. Jacquet backed that up with a quarter-final appearance in Tokyo. 

Berrettini is still the far more established player and should be able to dictate if his serve is firing, but Jacquet is emerging as a very competitive opponent on the ATP Tour.
