Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah vs Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka: who will have a bigger impact in 2025-26?

Two of the hottest FPL assets on the market will be in heavy demand leading up to Gameweek 1 as we look at the numbers and judge whether Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) or Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) will make a bigger impact from an FPL point of view in the 2025-26 Premier League.

When comparing the statistics of both these two players in last season’s Premier League, it’s key to note immediately that Saka’s injury troubles which restricted his minutes compared to Salah has had a big impact on the numbers.
Whilst Saka only has 17 attacking returns including six goals and 11 assists, his xGI (expected goal involvements) is 14.7, a high figure for a player who managed just 1,724 minutes last campaign.
With 127 FPL points overall, 18 of those bonus points, Saka should improve significantly on those returns in 2025-26 should he stay injury free and play the minutes you would expect him to as a key member of a title chasing Arsenal side.
However, Mohamed Salah is now in a world of his own when it comes to FPL and that is reflected in his monster price-tag. A whopping 47 attacking returns last season (29 goals and 18 assists), 55 bonus points and a total FPL score of 344 points. If anyone can justify such a cost, it’s the Egyptian King.
While Arsenal face Man Utd at Old Trafford in Gameweek 1, Liverpool host Bournemouth. With Salah having scored a record nine goals in eight opening day Premier League fixtures, it’s hard not to think his impact will be more lucrative than Saka’s for FPL managers, both in Gameweek 1 and across the season.
Verdict: Mohamed Salah (£14.5m)
