We assess the FPL performances of Man City pair Omar Marmoush (£8.5m) and Phil Foden (£8.0m) from last season in a bid to decide which is more likely to prove the more reliable fantasy asset.

Whilst Man City’s Phil Foden was available to FPL managers for the entirety of 2024-25, Omar Marmoush was signed from Eintracht Frankfurt in January so only had half-a-season to make an impact for Pep Guardiola’s side. However, we saw enough in that period to suggest that the Egyptian will prove hot FPL commodity in this upcoming campaign.
Despite having played just under 600 minutes less than Foden over the course of last season, Marmoush managed to pick up just two less attacking returns than the England international. Marmoush’s seven goals bodes well moving forward, matching up to his xGI of 7.12. Foden also scored seven times last season, but only recorded two more assists than Marmoush.
The big question mark regarding these two players will be who is likely to see more minutes on the pitch, specifically in a starting role. Foden looked to have fallen out of favour with Guardiola last season whilst Marmoush as a big money signing will surely have a bigger role to play after having racked up 37 goals in 67 games across all competitions at Frankfurt.
When also taking into account that Marmoush is listed as a midfielder, this tips things in his favour with his goal record difficult to ignore, especially now he has adapted to the Premier League.
Verdict: Omar Marmoush (£8.5m)
